Private Spanish Lessons in New York City

spanishNY.com · Online one‑to‑one tutoring

I’m a Spanish tutor from Mexico City and a Columbia University graduate, with over 20 years of experience teaching Spanish in New York since 2003.

I work with English‑speaking adults who want clear explanations, real‑life Spanish, and a patient teacher who understands both cultures.

Who I’ve taught

Over the last 20+ years I’ve taught more than a thousand New Yorkers: students and professors at local universities, historians, scientists, engineers, architects, social workers, veterans, staff at Grammy‑winning recording studios, and even a U.S. ambassador.

I’ve also prepared experienced U.S. consuls in New York for official Spanish language certifications, and I’ve done professional English–Spanish translation and transcription work.

Earlier in my career I worked for The Wall Street Journal / Dow Jones at the World Financial Center in Lower Manhattan in software development, IT, news translation, newswires, archiving, and photography.
This helps me understand the vocabulary and communication style professionals need in meetings, emails, and presentations.
