A Little Background on Mirada de Mujer
Mirada de Mujer is one of those Mexican telenovelas that really changed the way people looked at the genre. It aired from 1997 to 1998 on TV Azteca and was produced by Argos Televisión. With Angélica Aragón in the role of María Inés, it became an unforgettable story.
What made it different was that it moved away from the usual fairy-tale romances. Instead, it told the story of a woman in her 50s who has been married for almost three decades. When her husband leaves her for a younger woman, she faces heartbreak, but also the chance to start over. She eventually finds herself in a new and passionate relationship with a younger man who sees her for who she truly is.
The telenovela was a massive success because it touched on themes that were not common at the time: identity, self-worth, love after 50, and the courage to build a new life.
