SI VES ALGO, DI ALGO

Who in New York City doesn’t know what
SI VES ALGO, DI ALGO means?

It’s all over the place

MTA Metrocard. Si ves algo, di algo.

MTA Metrocard. If you see something, say something.

Metrocard.

SI VES ALGO, DI ALGO
is the familiar (tú) translation for IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING.

When we just switched from tokens to Metrocards in the mid-1990s, we had these TV commercials, especially at night. I remember they were still on the air even in the mid-2000s. They were in English and Spanish, but I couldn’t find the Spanish versions on YouTube.  Former Governor Pataki is bilingual in English and Spanish, so he himself spoke in those Spanish commercials.
